Largs & The Islands of the Firth of Clyde
In days gone by, the city folk flocked, in droves, “doon the watter” to the pretty seaside town of Largs, on the Clyde Coast, for their summer holidays. Today, Largs still attracts families and visitors from far and wide who wish to enjoy the activities and experiences that this “Gem of a Town” has to offer. Why not choose Largs as your base during your stay in Scotland? We can source your accommodation and provide guided tours which showcase the beautiful surrounding area and islands. Sailing, golfing, fishing, walking, Viking Heritage and Kelburn Castle and Country Centre are just a few of the activities available, and don`t forget Nardini’s Café, world famous for its ice cream. Departing from Largs, sail round the islands on the world’s last ocean-going paddle steamer, “ Waverley”. Largs Sailing Club hosts a variety of events and regattas throughout the year. Yachts can be chartered privately and wildlife “Rib” cruises are also available from The Yacht Haven. With a fantastic selection of golf courses nearby, let us arrange your personalized golf tour. Try sea angling to catch cod, flounder and mackerel or go freshwater fishing for salmon or trout. Largs offers spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde from walks in and around the town. For families and kids the annual Viking Festival in September, culminates in a battle re-enactment and burning of a long ship followed by an amazing fireworks display. Enjoy fun and games at Kelburn Castle, home of the Graffiti Project and explore the Secret Forest or try your hand at the horse riding and trekking center.
