After leaving Edinburgh or Glasgow, we journey through The Trossachs and Queen Elizabeth Forest Park http://www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/queen-elizabeth-forest-park-p401781 before stopping in Aberfoyle. Then it`s over the Dukes Pass and on through Glen Ogle (Rob Roy country) for our visit to Killin http://www.killin.net/ to view the Falls of Dochart. This area is called Breadalbane and is known as “The Heart of Scotland”. We continue to Crianlarich and stop to see Kilchurn Castle as we pass Loch Awe before stopping for the night near Oban http://www.explore-oban.com/.
Head north from Oban through Appin and view the iconic Castle Stalker http://www.oldappin.com/ on our way to Fort William. After lunch we make our way through the great glen, alongside Loch Ness to Urqhuart Castle http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/propertyresults/propertyoverview.htm?PropID=PL_297 with the option of taking a sail on the Loch at Drumnadrochit http://www.lochnesscruises.com/. We then pass alongside the Caledonian Canal, stopping at the locks for a chat with the lock keeper as we continue to Inverness for our overnight stay.
Leaving Inverness behind we visit the prehistoric burial cairns and standing stones at Clava Cairns http://www.mysteriousbritain.co.uk/scotland/invernesshire/featured-sites/balnuaran-of-clava.html then on to Culloden Battlefield http://www.nts.org.uk/Culloden/Home/ , scene of the last pitched battle on British soil.
Heading south, we continue our journey through Cairngorms National Park to visit and tour the Highland distillery at Dalwhinnie http://www.discovering-distilleries.com/dalwhinnie/. Here we can sample the gentle spirit of the Glen and learn about the “Angels Share”, created during the maturing process.
Climbing over the Pass of Drumochter and on through the Pass of Killicrankie, we then travel through Perthshire and on to your accommodation in either Edinburgh, Glasgow or a destination of your choice.
